Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park is a scenic haven located approximately 40 miles from New York City. The park offers visitors a day of fun and relaxation with a host of activities for people of all ages to enjoy.
The park has spacious picnic areas that may be reserved in advance and can accommodate individual families as well as large groups. Mohansic Lake and Crom Pond provide excellent freshwater fishing and boating. Popular sport fish include bass, perch, and sun fish. A New York State Freshwater Fishing License is required. In wintertime, the water's tree lined border provides a winter wonderland backdrop for ice skaters and ice fisherman. The park’s hills and trails are perfect for winter sports. The young and the young at heart will enjoy sledding or cross country skiing.
All picnic areas have volleyball nets and many have softball fields or basketball courts. There is also a soccer field and a disc golf course a short distance from the picnic areas. The rules and scorecards are located at the course and loaner Frisbees are available from the park office. Both rowboats and pedal boats are available for rental; however, a regional boating permit allows visitors to launch their own rowboats, canoes or kayaks. Seasons/Operating Hours: Weekdays from June 1 – Labor Day, the park is open from 9:00AM to sunset. All other times, the park is open from 8:00AM to sunset. Restrictions: Household pets only; caged or on a leash not more than 10 feet. Pets are not permitted in buildings, picnic areas or swimming pool complex.
