Cherry Plain State Park is located in the southwest part of Berlin, New York near the Massachusetts border. The 175 acre park features a sandy beach on Black River Pond with nearby bathhouse and comfort station. The Park also has picnic grounds and a boat launch adjacent to the beach, bridle paths and nature trails.
Biking, fishing, hiking, hunting, ice fishing, recreation programs, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing are popular activities at the park. Anglers fish for bass, bullheads, and pickerel. Ice fishing is popular during the winter months.
The park offers a beach, boat launch and boat rentals, food concession, a nature trail, pavilions and picnic tables, a playground, showers. Named in 2007 as one of the Top 100 Campgrounds in the nation, the park has 10 trailer sites and 10 lakeside tent sites available for overnight camping. Seasons/Operating Hours: The park is open for swimming from Memorial Day through mid-June on weekends and then June 26 through Labor Day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Deer and small game hunting are allowed during season. Camping is available from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Also available Fridays and Saturdays: the first weekend of May to Memorial Day & then Labor Day to Columbus Day. Restrictions: Household pets only; caged or on a leash not more than 6 feet, rabies vaccination and proof of same required. Not permitted in buildings or bathing areas.
