Chenango Valley State Park is located in the western part of the town of Fenton, New York adjacent to the Chenango River. The park includes forest and wetland habitats that host large populations of birds. The Park also contains two kettle lakes, Lily and Chenango, which were created when the last glacier retreated and left behind large masses of buried ice.
Popular activities at the park include biking, camping, golf, fishing, hiking, and recreation programs. Ice skating, sledding and cross-country ski trails attract visitors in winter. Birdwatchers will find many woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers and thrushes among the mature woodlands; herons, ducks and kingfishers can be found lakeside. Fishermen can try their luck with the trout, bass, perch and bullhead in Chenango Lake.
The Park has a beach, picnic tables and pavilions, an 18-hole golf course, playground, recreation programs, nature trail, a dumping station, and showers. The campground has 216 campsites and 24 cabins. Services include a boat launch with boat rentals, and a food concession. Seasons/Operating Hours: Open year-round, from sunrise to sunset.
