Situated at the confluence of the State Boat Channel, Captree State Park has been a favorite spot for fishermen and picnickers since 1954. Captree encompasses 298 acres and offers a marina and boat launch, fishing, picnic tables, a playground and recreation programs. The park is located on the easternmost end of Jones Island and overlooks the Fire Island Inlet and the westernmost section of Fire Island, near the town of Babylon.
The park features a boat basin with open and charter boats available for fishing, as well as scuba diving, sightseeing and excursion boats. Many boats are available for hire from half-day excursions to full day fishing trips. Fisherman's Paradise Both avid fishermen and novice anglers enjoy the excellent fishing opportunities at Captree. The area is known for its excellent Flounder and Fluke fishing during the fall months, as well as Blackfish and Sea Bass. Visitors can fish from the piers, including two handicapped accessible piers or from the beach at Fire Island Inlet. Sightseeing tours and guided nature walks are also popular at the park and operate daily during the summer. Birders have many opportunities to observe several species of gull, terns white pelicans, black skimmers, common loon as well as numerous species of duck and other sea faring birds. Captree Island consists of a series of barrier islands on the south shore of Long Island. The islands contain sandy beach and dune systems and natural salt marshes.

Location: 48 miles from Manhattan via Southern State Parkway to Robert Moses Causeway (Exit 40), south to Park.
