Canoe-Picnic Point State Park is located on Grindstone Island in the St. Lawrence River near the town of Clayton, New York. Accessible only by boat, the Park offers a quiet camping experience in a wooded area with plenty of activities.
Camping is the popular activity at the park and visitors can enjoy sprawling river views on Grindstone Island's lovely panoramic point from mid-May through mid-September. The park has 25 tent sites and 6 cabins (1 cabin is handicapped accessible) on the point. Just south of the camping area is Picnic Point, a picnic ground with a picnic gazebo, a facility for cooking a shore dinner, and plenty of dockage. The park offers a nature trail, picnic tables, pavilions, dockage, horseshoe pits, excellent fishing, hiking, and seasonal waterfowl hunting. Boat rentals are available nearby, call the park for information. Seasons/Operating Hours: Open during the summer. Waterfowl hunting is permitted in season. Location: Located on the northeast end of Grindstone Island, facing Eel Bay and the Canadian Channel. Best access is from either Wellesley Island just over the Thousand Islands bridge or from Grass Point State Park on Rte 12, 1 mile south of the Thousand Islands Bridge.
