The Caleb Smith State Park Preserve is located near the north shore of Long Island in the town of Smithtown, New York. The Preserve is a refuge for wildlife and its diverse habitats support a variety of trees, shrubs, wildflowers and ferns. The park is located in a suburban area, yet much of the Preserve's 543 acres are undeveloped and allow visitors to explore the various habitats including freshwater wetlands, ponds, streams, fields and upland woods. The diverse environment is home for many small animals and song birds. The park offers hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, a nature trail and recreation programs. A series of trails runs through the property offering an opportunity to hike or bike. Many visitors enjoy fly fishing at the Preserve.
