Location Overview

The Jacksonville Baldwin Rail Trail is a 14.5-mile paved greenway covered by a dense canopy of pine and palmetto trees. The trail begins its journey in Jacksonville and runs through small hills and passes farms and woods to the bedroom community of Baldwin. The trail is perfect for avid walkers or bikers looking for a great family trip. The trail offers a serene escape from the noise and commotion of Jacksonville.

Visitors will have the opportunity to view wildlife such as deer, turkey, hawks, songbirds, wild pigs, fox and snakes. Along the greenway, you'll see a diversity of natural habitats, including pine flatwoods, wetlands, and hardwood uplands.

The Jacksonville-Baldwin trail also crosses McGirts Creek near Camp Milton, a historical Civil War site. The Camp Milton Historic preserve serves as the halfway marker for the trail.

The Jacksonville-Baldwin trail is currently developing mountain bike and equestrian trails along the paved asphalt road for bikers, skaters, and walkers. The trail system will eventuall include three separate paths: a multi-use asphalt trail for walking, jogging, or in-line skating; a mountain bike trail; and a trail for horseback riding.

The Jacksonville-Baldwin trail is free and open from sunrise to sunset.
